Content filtering from GSSSpyware is a fast-growing threat that represents a major security risk, it has the ability to attack your systems or networks, in various ways: Stealing information about you and your computer. Keyloggers can record every keystroke you make on your PC , steal your passwords and confidential data. Browser Hijackers can reset your default homepage preventing you from changing your browser's homepage back to its original default. Remote Access Trojans (RATs) give an attacker total control over your PC. Whatever the program is doing, it generally has the ability to transmit the information it collects over the internet back to whoever installed it. At Guide Security Services our clients security is of up most importance, not only the detection and monitoring of intruders through our integrated, remote cctv monitored security systems, but also through the ways in which we internally safeguard our network and our client’s confidential information such as their individual security and activation codes. The Blue Coat Appliance, recently installed by GSS at their BS8418 & BS5979 category II, Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC), is a content filtering appliance for network systems, which protects against all known and unknown spyware whilst enabling legitimate applications via proven proxy technology. Backed by world-leading experts in web proxy performance and security, the appliance intercepts and analyzes all executable web traffic, then implements preset policy preferences to remove known, likely, or potential spyware. The system also automatically updates profiles, policies, and prevention techniques, against the numerous, easily generated, original spyware files from web servers. *The Bluecoat name and logo are trademarks of Blue Coat Systems Inc. these logos should not be confused with any GSS trademarks, products or services.

Construction site management successIntegrated security solutions provider Guide Security Services Ltd - GSS have recently worked with Alfred McAlpine PLC, one of the leading support services groups focused on the built environment, to provide innovative solutions for on-site security management. The GSS construction site system, currently in operation at Alfred McAlpine’s Western Avenue A40 site in London, has already proven significantly beneficial at the Wales Farm Road Bridge and the Perryn Road Bridge, Acton. The original bridges were not designed to manage today's volume of traffic - over 100,000 vehicles each day. Now both bridges are being replaced in a major construction project crucial to improving the safety and security of the transport infrastructure. Developed for the construction industry as a solution to protect and manage sites, the GSS system has been embraced by Alfred McAlpines at their sites and is endorsed by Shaun McCallion, Project Manager of Alfred McAlpine PLC, Special Projects Division. Shaun has praised the GSS system, in particular for the cost saving benefits. As he explains: ‘We are delighted with Guide Security’s construction site system. The site management solution in operation at the A40, Western Avenue project, has already provided us with increased operational efficiency along with significant cost savings. The remotely monitored CCTV and access control system are providing 24 hour security cover, reducing levels of risk and delivering a high degree of flexibility and reliability over McAlpines previous solutions. Individually designed for each location with remote CCTV monitoring by Guide Monitoring Services, the monitoring division of GSS, the construction site security system provides an amalgam of solutions for site management, including the ability to observe work on site, monitor sub-contractor movements and practically eliminate theft from site. These added benefits have been welcomed by McAlpines. The site management and health and safety applications provided by the system have been a major bonus to McAlpines. This has been proven by a recent Alfred McAlpine audit in which the system was given a rating of 9/10. “A result GSS should be very proud of,” adds Shaun McCallion. “In fact, overall cost saving benefits of the system have been surprising. This year alone the site system will save us in the region of £200K. Savings are sustainable, as the solution can be moved to a new project following the completion of this contract.” GSS Managing Director Edward Cusack said; “We are delighted with the success of our system on the McAlpines sites. The excellent 9 out of 10 health and safety rating we received reflects our commitment to providing our clients with consistently high standards of services as one of the leading security solution specialists in our field.”

Construction site securityIntegrated security solutions provider Guide Security Services Ltd - GSS have recently worked in partnership with one of the leading support service groups in the UK, Morrison’s construction services division, in their bid to combat on-site issues faced during construction programs. Morrison’s, a performance partner appointed by Thames Water to undertake works on the AMP 4 programme, providing services from flooding prevention schemes to network infrastructure provision, had identified a number of key problems regarding the protection of sites during construction. The solution from GSS was to design and implement an innovative site management and security system for a number of Morrison’s sites. "The major issues we face at our sites include vulnerability to theft and vandalism as well as a range of health and safety issues.” Explains Andrew Faherty, Morrison’s Contracts Manager. “Construction sites can be dangerous places if left unsecured, large shafts are often dug to enable us to work on or replace water infrastructure,” Designed specifically for each location with remote CCTV monitoring by GSS, the security solutions are currently in operation at two of Morrison’s sites; Corkscrew Hill and Tiepegs Lane, Bromley, Kent. They are already proving their worth by warning off several intruders who left the sites without causing damage or theft. The proximity of the Corkscrew Hill site, close to playing fields, has highlighted an additional safety issue of children straying onto the site. The system immediately alerts the GSS remote video response centre operators ensuring safer supervision of any movement around the site. “The added attraction is the ability to move the GSS system from site to site following the completion of each project, generally after one to three years,” explains Morrison’s Andrew Faherty, “Re installation of the equipment at any of our new sites offers us a major return on our initial investment, as the system becomes a movable asset rather than a direct construction cost enabling us to realise further cost savings over the life of the system.” GSS National Sales Manager, Robert Pogson, further explains the numerous benefits to installing the GSS systems on site; “GSS have developed these security systems specifically for the construction industry as a solution to the requirement for protection and management of sites during construction.” Morrison’s have traditionally used manned guards, but the GSS system has shown to offer real cost saving benefits, 24/7 security and a higher degree of flexibility and reliability over manned guards. Robert Pogson added; “The systems installed at Morrison’s are proving to be a success, not only for their extensive security advantages but also for their practicality, most importantly though is that Morrison’s are delighted with the results.”

Secure in the knowledgePlan security systems in at the outset of any commercial building projects and reap the benefits is the message to both developers and end users from GSS, one of the UK’s leading integrated monitored security solutions specialists. GSS, which operates throughout the UK, has pioneered the process of incorporating leading edge security systems as an integral part of the overall design and build of a development, right from the outset. Planning security in at the conceptual stage provides the opportunity to make well-proven cost savings, reducing disruption and ensuring sites are more attractive to potential clients. This approach means cleaner, greener and more secure environments, providing peace of mind and improved safety. Lone workers are protected, fly tipping eradicated, all major considerations for site occupiers, and important factors when leasing or selling any development. People do not want to live and work in protected fortresses but want the peace of mind monitored security provision offers, 24/7. The GSS multi layered system, utilising an amalgam of integrated security systems and CCTV monitoring, eradicates the need to introduce security onto a site at a later stage, which is often expensive, disruptive and difficult to implement. Mick Gains, QPM, Director of GSS explains; “It is much better to design a secure site - rather than trying to make a site secure. As specialists we can advise developers and local authorities on security considerations, as the costs involved in correcting or managing a badly designed development are much greater than getting it right in the first place.” The unique GSS “blue print” for security provision being included from the conceptual stage of the build onwards, rather than as an “add on”, is being successfully taken up by leading developers across the country. The pro-active layered protection concept was first introduced onto a GSS secured business park site in East Lancashire almost 10 years ago, and continues to perform exceptionally. All businesses on this site are protected by GSS monitored security systems. The cost of GSS security provision can be built into the service charges for a site, ensuring high quality security coverage is provided cost effectively.
