Research into CCTV monitoring proves
that many businesses are not gaining the maximum benefit
from their security investment. Many companies simply use
CCTV for passively recording incidents yet by utilising
remote monitoring; a CCTV system can become an active element
of your security system providing all the benefits of a
manned on-site presence with added benefits at a fraction
of the cost.
Remote video monitoring provides – 24-hour, 7
days a week, 365 days a year; direct video surveillance by
trained security staff using a dedicated security software
system that enables them to follow any intruder in
real time.
Remote CCTV monitoring is a pro-active and effective
way of deterring crime and criminal activity.
In the event of an intrusion our dedicated operators are
able to view live images from site whilst simultaneously transmitting
audio messages to deter intruders where possible. Where
appropriate, our operators will contact the relevant emergency
services and keyholders. Alarm Response is tailored to the
customer's specific requirements. Operators can immediately contact
the Emergency Services, a named keyholder, other authorised
personnel, or an independent guarding company.

BS8418 Leglislation
and Police Response
If a client CCTV system is not fully compliant to British
Standard 8418 (BS8418) they will be denied a police
response to intruder alarms - potentially leaving many
premises without an effective security system.
All CCTV systems protecting private property installed after January
1st 2005, which require police response, must have been installed
to BS8418 regulations. And requires they are monitored
by a BS8418 and BS5979 compliant Remote Video Response Centre
(RVRC).
Non-compliance to BS8418 would mean a denial of a unique reference
number (URN) which is recognised by UK police services. Companies
face the prospect of no police response to an alarm if
their system does not hold a URN.
To ensure your CCTV system meets the new requirements:
Ensure
your system was installed by a BS8418
qualified installation
company
Ensure it is monitored
by a BS8418 and BS5979 compliant Remote
Video Response Centre.
If your system was installed
pre 01/01/2005, ensure your existing
monitoring company has a legacy certificate
Ensure you have a URN
from your local police station
If in doubt, check with
your security provider
